When I informed the department head that I had accepted a position at Lafayette High in l973, she strongly suggested that I join the Lafayette Schools'Federal Credit Union, and I did so. When I wished to buy a house in 1979, I borrowed approximately $1500. When I decided to remodel the same house years later, I had saved enough money toavoid making a loan. The credit union financed all of my vehicles, including my retirement gift to myself! Most importantly, the credit union encouraged me to save toward retirement without actually realizing it!
Lafayette Schools' Federal Credit Union, you have many fans, and I am one of them!! As the late Paul Harvey so often stated, "And now the rest of the story....."

The Lafayette Schools' FCU did their part in making a dream come true. As a member of the credit union for many years, I have always appreciated the "extra mile” service that I receive. However, two years ago, that extra mile extended thousands of miles across the ocean to a small town in Ukraine.
After years of delays, changes, and frustration, I was less than forty-eight hours away from traveling to Ukraine to find and meet the little girl who would become my child. Unexpectedly, I received a call telling me that the $6000 in cash I needed to take for unplanned adoption expenses had to be in crisp, new twenties. After my initial panic, I raced to the credit union and explained my situation. Q uite naturally, the credit union did not have $6000 worth of new 20's in the building. As the word of my plight spread among the employees, everyone began looking through their cash drawers and the vault to gather all the money they could. I was told by the enthusiastic ladies not to fear – they would come up with the money by the next morning.
Sure enough, when I walked into the credit union the next day, I was greeted with encouraging smiles, and the "new” money was handed over. The final emergency in my adoption journey was taken care of by a group of folks who counted, searched and called to get what I needed.
The best way I knew to thank the employees at the credit union was to walk in several weeks later with a beautiful six year old Ukrainian child who was now my American daughter. I am so very grateful to the Lafayette Schools' FCU for jumping into action to help me at such a crucial time. Your "extra mile” of service was an answered prayer.

In this fast paced world that we live in, we seldom take time to appreciate the smaller things in life; the people who add to our lives and make every day better.
I grew up in a small town Lafayette. Then, trips to the store, bank, or any other business took time, for there was always someone there that you knew and had to catch up with. Lafayette is so big now that you can travel around town all day and not see someone you recognize.
I wish to thank you for the services you provide to me and my family as our bank. We feel that you truly have our interest at heart.
